A new product by MojoRisin is available: Numberle v1.0.7 - Wordle for the math brain.
A shared daily math puzzle that gives your community's math brains the same daily ritual Wordle gave everyone else.
The math-brain answer to Wordle, built natively for XenForo. Every member of your community gets the same daily target number and has six tries to guess the hidden 12-character equation that produces it. Order of operations applies. Every guess must itself be a valid equation. The result is a tiny daily ritual that drives return visits, leaderboard rivalry, and thread chatter from a demographic Wordle doesn't reach — without you lifting a finger after install.
How it works
A new puzzle is generated at midnight in your forum's timezone. Members visit /numberle/ and see today's target number — say, 42. They have six tries to guess the hidden 12-character equation that equals it. Every guess must itself be a valid equation that produces the target. After each guess, the tiles light up green for correct character in the correct position, yellow for present-but-misplaced, and gray for absent. Standard order of operations applies (× and ÷ before + and −), and division must be exact. The on-screen keyboard tracks digit and operator states across guesses, and the physical keyboard works too.
When the puzzle is solved (or lost), a celebration modal pops with the visitor's stats, the iconic shareable colored-square grid, and a one-tap Share to thread button that posts the result straight to a forum thread you've designated. From there, members compare deduction paths, brag about their streaks, and watch each other's records climb.

Why it works
Admin setup
Install the addon, set the three permissions on your registered user group, optionally point the share-to-thread feature at a designated forum thread, and you're done. The daily puzzle generator runs on cron at 00:05 forum-time. No seed data needed — the first cron run generates the first puzzle.

What's included
- Daily shared puzzle — one equation per day, same target for every member, generated automatically by cron
- Six guesses with the standard Wordle color rules
- Algorithmic generator — picks from 28+ equation shape templates ranging from five single-digit chains to mixed three-digit operands, never repeats a previous puzzle
- Virtual + physical keyboard with persistent digit and operator state coloring
- Per-member stats — played, win rate, current streak, best streak, guess distribution
- Sortable leaderboard — by current streak, best streak, total wins, or average guesses, with the visitor's own row pinned for visibility
- Smooth client-side pagination — up to 60 leaderboard entries, 20 per page, no reload, no jump
- Win modal — celebration headline that scales with guess count (Genius / Magnificent / Impressive / Splendid / Great / Phew), shareable colored grid, copy-to-clipboard, share-to-thread
- Live countdown to the next puzzle — reinforces the daily-return loop
- How-to-play modal — accessible from the help icon for new players
- Per-forum sequence — each install runs its own independent puzzle numbering, no global cheat sheets
- Permission-gated — separate flags for playing, sharing to thread, and viewing the leaderboard
- Zero external dependencies — pure algorithmic generation, no APIs, no licenses, no third-party services
Why it works
- Untapped audience. Wordle catches the word people. Numberle catches everyone else — the math nerds, the engineers, the puzzle solvers who like Wordle in concept but want a different brain workout.
- Pairs with Wordle. If you already run Blatchy Wordle, Numberle slots in as a second daily ritual on the same forum — different audience, same engagement loop, twice the daily-return hooks.
- Loss aversion drives streaks. Once a member has a 12-day streak, they don't miss tomorrow. The fear of breaking it pulls them back.
- Social proof in the win modal. Sharing the colored grid to a thread creates organic daily content with zero moderator effort, and the spoiler-free result lets members banter without revealing the answer.
- Pure automation. No content authoring, no curation queue, no API key, no licensing fees. The generator runs forever and never repeats.
