A new product by MojoRisin is available: Sudoku v1.0.4 - Coffee. Sudoku. Repeat.
Blatchy Sudoku
Today's grid is waiting.
Sudoku is the daily 9×9 logic puzzle, built native to your forum. Every member sees the same grid each day and works it out cell by cell. Fill every blank so each row, column, and 3×3 box contains the digits 1 through 9 exactly once. Pure deduction, no guessing, one right answer. A new grid every morning, harder as the week goes on.
How it works
A new puzzle is generated at midnight in your forum's timezone. Members visit /sudoku/ and start placing digits. Click a cell, click a number, done. Pencil marks let you note candidates, conflict highlighting catches mistakes the moment you make them, and 200 levels of undo mean you can experiment freely without losing your place. The timer runs while you solve and pauses automatically when you switch tabs.
The week ramps. Monday and Tuesday are Easy, mid-week is Medium, Friday and Saturday are Hard, and Sunday is Expert. Members build the habit on the easier days and find themselves coming back for the brutal Sunday grid because they don't want to break their streak.
When a member solves, a celebration modal pops with their stats — solved, current streak, best streak, and best times for each difficulty tier — plus a shareable card showing the difficulty, solve time, and streak. One tap copies it to clipboard or posts it straight to a designated forum thread, where the rest of your community can banter about today's puzzle.

Why it works
Admin setup
Install the addon. The install routine creates the database tables. Set the three permissions on your registered user group. Optionally configure the share-to-thread feature: pick a thread, point Sudoku at it, done. The daily generator runs on cron at 00:05 forum-time and verifies puzzle uniqueness before serving.
Permissions
Grant all three to registered users for the standard configuration. Members who lack permission see a clear "you don't have permission to play" message instead of a confusing login prompt.

- Daily shared puzzle — one grid per day, same for every member, generated automatically at midnight forum-time
- Weekly difficulty rotation — Easy (Mon-Tue), Medium (Wed-Thu), Hard (Fri-Sat), Expert (Sun)
- Generator with uniqueness verification — every puzzle is solver-verified to have exactly one solution before being served, no broken grids that require guessing
- Pencil marks — toggle pencil mode and note candidate digits in any cell, just like solving on paper
- Conflict highlighting — duplicate digits in a row, column, or 3×3 box light up red so mistakes are caught immediately
- Same-value highlighting — click any digit and every cell containing that digit highlights, making patterns visible at a glance
- Peer highlighting — selected cell's row, column, and 3×3 box light up so you can see exactly what constrains your choice
- 200 levels of undo and redo — experiment freely, walk back any sequence of moves
- Auto-save and resume — close the tab, switch devices, come back later — your grid state and pencil marks are preserved
- Smart timer — counts up while you solve, pauses automatically when you switch tabs so leaving the page doesn't ruin your time
- Per-member stats — solved count, current streak, best streak, and best solve time for each difficulty tier independently
- Sortable leaderboard — current streak, best streak, total solves, or fastest time per difficulty, with smooth client-side pagination and the visitor's row pinned
- Win modal — celebration headline, difficulty stars, solve time, current streak, copy-to-clipboard share, share-to-thread
- Share-to-thread — one-tap posts a celebration card to a designated forum thread with emoji headline, difficulty stars, solve time, streak, and a call-to-action link back to today's puzzle
- One share per puzzle — members can post their result to the thread once per day, no spam
- Master share toggle — admin option to disable the share-to-thread feature entirely if you don't want results posted to the forum at all
- Live countdown to the next puzzle — reinforces the daily-return loop
- Per-forum sequence — each install runs its own independent puzzle numbering, no global cheat sheets, no spoiler risk
- Permission-gated — separate flags for playing, sharing to thread, and viewing the leaderboard, with appropriate fallback messages for guests and unauthorized members
- Pure logic puzzle — no licenses, no API keys, no third-party services, no tracking
Why it works
- Sudoku has the biggest daily-puzzle audience in the world. Bigger than Wordle, bigger than crosswords. Every newspaper on Earth runs Sudoku because it works. Bringing it native to your forum gives your community the same daily ritual without sending them off to a third-party app.
- The difficulty curve builds the habit. Monday's Easy puzzle is solvable in five minutes — perfect for casual players who want a quick win. Sunday's Expert puzzle takes thirty to forty-five minutes of real deduction — perfect for the hardcore solver who wants a challenge. The week-long ramp keeps everyone engaged at their level and pulls casual players up the difficulty curve over time.
- Loss aversion drives streaks. Once a member has a 12-day streak, they don't miss tomorrow. The fear of breaking it pulls them back. The streak counter is the single most addictive number in the entire game.
- Spoiler-free social proof. The shareable card tells the story of the solve — difficulty, time, streak — without revealing any cells of the answer. Members banter about how brutal Sunday was, brag about their fastest Easy time, and watch each other's streaks climb in your forum threads, not someone else's app.
- Owned, not rented. Members play on your domain. Their stats live in your database. Their streaks belong to your community. Sharing posts to your threads. Every interaction reinforces that this is their forum's puzzle.
- Pure automation. No content authoring, no curation queue, no licensing fees. The cron generates today's puzzle, verifies its uniqueness, and serves it. The daily ritual runs forever.
