Auction v1.3.0

Description

AUCTIONS DEMO

Blatchy Auctions
A complete eBay-style auction marketplace built natively for XenForo 2.3+. Give your members a full listings-and-bidding experience without third-party escrow, held funds, or virtual currency — buyers and sellers settle the actual sale themselves.

Auction types
  • Standard — classic ascending-bid
  • Reserve — hidden minimum, only sells if met
  • Buy it now — instant-win fixed price

Bidding mechanics
  • Proxy / max bidding with auto-increment tiers
  • Anti-snipe auto-extension when bids land near close
  • Per-user gates: min posts, min days registered, min feedback
  • Per-seller blocklists so members can mute buyers they don't want
  • Strike system with configurable auto-ban threshold for non-paying winners

Listings
  • Multi-image gallery using XenForo's native attachment system
  • Categories with display order and live listing counts
  • Condition (new / like new / used / for parts)
  • Quantity and per-listing currency
  • Full BB-code descriptions
  • Live countdown timers on every listing

Monetization
Runs on XenForo's native payment profiles (PayPal, Stripe, whatever you already have configured). Two purchasable products drive revenue:
  • Listing fee tiers — free or paid tiers that control max duration, max images, and access to reserve / BIN
  • Featured upgrade — promotes a listing to the featured strip for a configurable duration
No escrow. No final-value fee. No held funds. No third-party dependency.

Notifications
Native XenForo alerts for outbid, ending soon, won, lost, new bid on your listing, sold, and strike issued.

Won-auction handoff
Optional automatic XF conversation opened between buyer and seller the moment an auction closes — they coordinate payment and shipping directly, the site stays out of it.

Seller tools
  • Seller dashboard with active, sold, and unsold tabs
  • Mark winner as unpaid after a configurable grace period (auto-issues strike)
  • Positive / neutral / negative feedback with comments
  • One-click feature promotion on active listings

Buyer tools
  • Watchlist with ending-soon alerts
  • My bids page (winning, outbid, watching, won)
  • Blocked-users management

Admin
  • Auction list with status filter and stats (active, sold, unsold, total sales)
  • Force-close and full edit on any auction
  • Category, listing-fee tier, featured-upgrade tier, and strike managers

Widgets
Ending soon, Featured auctions, Recently sold — drop into any sidebar, index top/bottom, or auction browse position.

Cron
Auction closer (every minute), ending-soon notifier (5 min), strike expiry (hourly), featured upgrade expiry (15 min). All automatic.

Giving this a run on my newest site.

Without paying attention, I inadvertently installed this on my older site unintentionally.
I have uninstalled it, but I have found there is no "Delete files" feature in the ACP Addons page.

Cloud doesnt allow you the ability to delete folders?

I may have misspoke.

I installed on wrong site, no biggie
I uninstalled in acp, no biggie

but in order to remove the files (normally for addons) there will be a "Delete files" button next to the install button. This allows XF sys to delete the files (i think the zip file) to delete it off the server.

Hashes is not included. Thats is preventing your ability to simply "delete files" . That is by choice on my end.

I can appreciate that (I think, as I am unsure what you mean by hashes)

But every single addon I have ever installed, and subsequently uninstalled, came with a delete files button. I just wish to pull it off the cloud instance I accidentally installed on.

Any suggestions?

Delete the folder. If I include the hashes.json and users make changes to the script (which I personally dont care) then the file integrity warnings start going off which I then inevitably start getting flooded with support requests.

I've had a few different add-ons that do this, and then I just have to go to the src/addons folder within the root and delete the relevant folder manually. Are you able to do that on cloud?

I will make you a version with hashes. Install it , then uninstall and delete.

Hi @MojoRisin,

This looks very promising. I’m considering it for a larger XenForo 2.3 community where auctions would live inside a broader marketplace/trading area, rather than being the only marketplace feature. I had a few pre-purchase questions to make sure it can fit that kind of setup cleanly.

1. How flexible are the public routes/navigation?
Can the auction area be linked or presented as part of a broader marketplace area, even if the add-on keeps its own internal route structure?

2. How customizable are templates and phrases?
We would need to do fairly heavy styling/customization so the auction pages feel native to our site. Are the major front-end templates and phrases cleanly editable through normal XenForo template/phrase overrides?

3. Can listing-fee tiers and featured upgrades be fully disabled?
The resource page mentions listing fee tiers and featured upgrades. We may not want monetized auction features at first. Can those be turned off cleanly so auctions are free to post/use?

4. How does the feedback system work structurally?
Is feedback tied to completed auctions only? Is it positive/neutral/negative per transaction, and can admins moderate, remove, or edit feedback if needed?

5. Can auction feedback be displayed outside the auction pages?
For example, could we show a compact auction/trading feedback summary in postbit or member cards only in specific marketplace-related forums/nodes?

6. What hooks or extension points are available?
If we build a separate marketplace/listings add-on later, are there clean ways to integrate auction counts, seller feedback, widgets, or profile/member information without modifying this add-on’s core files?

7. How configurable are permissions?
Can we separately control who can view auctions, create auctions, bid, use Buy It Now, use reserve auctions, use featured upgrades, and access specific categories?

8. How does the buyer/seller conversation handoff work?
Can the automatic conversation text be customized? Can it include a safety/disclaimer message or site-specific transaction guidance?

9. Is the optional disclaimer shown to both buyer and seller?
The update note mentions an optional disclaimer/acknowledgement. Can that be required before bidding/listing, and can the text be fully customized?

10. What happens on uninstall?
Does the add-on remove all auction tables/data, or does it leave data behind for safety? Is there any documented backup/export path for auction data?

11. Are there any known scaling considerations?
The resource page mentions cron tasks for auction closing every minute and other regular jobs. Are there practical limits or recommendations for larger communities with many active auctions?

12. Is source code included and editable?
Not asking to modify it unnecessarily, but for integration planning it helps to know whether license holders receive readable PHP/templates in the standard XenForo add-on structure.

Thanks. The feature set looks very strong, especially the proxy bidding, anti-snipe extension, seller tools, feedback, and non-paying winner strike system. I’m mostly trying to confirm how well it can be styled and integrated into a larger marketplace area before purchasing.

ok I will try and answer these the best I can. I admittedly am not exactly sure what you are asking on some so I will just say so..

1. How flexible are the public routes/navigation?
XenForo's built-in route filters can rewrite the URL prefix (e.g.marketplace/auctions) without touching the addon.

2. How customizable are templates and phrases?

Everything is standard XenForo
3. Can listing-fee tiers and featured upgrades be fully disabled?
Listing-fee tiers and featured tiers are things you create in the admin panel — if you don't create any, listing is simply free and the featured system never appears. There's also a "bypass fees" permission and a free-listings-per-day option if you later want a hybrid. Nothing about fees is mandatory.

4. How does the feedback system work structurally?
Feedback is tied strictly to completed (sold) auctions, and only the buyer and seller on that auction can leave it — one each, per transaction. It's a 1–5 star rating that maps to positive/neutral/negative, with an optional comment. A user re-submitting updates their existing feedback rather than stacking.

5. Can auction feedback be displayed outside the auction pages?
Each user has a public auction profile page showing their feedback history and totals, and per-user stats are stored in their own table. But there's no postbit/member-card integration out of the box

6. What hooks or extension points are available?
A separate marketplace addon could pull auction counts, feedback scores, or listings through the repositories/finders and extend classes the normal XF way

7. How configurable are permissions?
Per-usergroup exist for: create listings, bid, set reserve, use Buy It Now, purchase featured upgrades, watch, leave feedback, bypass fees, bypass minimums, plus a max-active-listings limit and moderator edit/delete-any.

8. How does the buyer/seller conversation handoff work?
The addon can automatically open a conversation between buyer and seller. It's an on/off option, and the opening message text is a plain admin option you can fully rewrite

9. Is the optional disclaimer shown to both buyer and seller?
The disclaimer text is admin written and gets its own public page. When a disclaimer is set, acknowledgement is required — enforced server-side both when creating a listing and when bidding, so it covers both sides of the transaction. Leave the text empty and the whole thing disappears.

10. What happens on uninstall?
Uninstall is a full clean removal: all auction tables, uploaded auction images, and payment records are deleted.

11. Are there any known scaling considerations?
Each cron run only touches auctions that actually need action.

12. Is source code included and editable?
Buyers get the complete readable source in standard XenForo addon structure

I hope this clears up some of your questions.

ok I will try and answer these the best I can. I admittedly am not exactly sure what you are asking on some so I will just say so..

Thanks again for the replies. That was very helpful and answered most of what I needed to know.

I just have a few follow-up questions, mostly around moderation/admin handling:

1. On the feedback side, can admins or moderators edit, delete, hide, or otherwise moderate auction feedback if there’s a problem with it? Also, can members report auction feedback?

2. I saw the overview mentions force-close and full edit on any auction. Are there any tools beyond that for bidding issues specifically? For example, can an admin/mod cancel an individual bid, reopen or relist an auction, or otherwise correct a problem if something goes wrong during bidding?

3. Are important auction actions logged anywhere? Things like bids being placed, listings being edited or deleted, auctions ending, feedback being left, or an admin/mod stepping in.

4. Can auction visibility be controlled separately from bidding/listing permissions? For example, could guests be allowed to view auctions but not bid, or could auctions be hidden from guests completely?

No rush. I appreciate you taking the time to answer these.

No on both, currently.
2. I saw the overview mentions force-close and full edit on any auction. Are there any tools beyond that for bidding issues specifically? For example, can an admin/mod cancel an individual bid, reopen or relist an auction, or otherwise correct a problem if something goes wrong during bidding?
There's no way to cancel or retract an individual bid, by admins or bidders. In ACP admin can edit any auction (title, description, starting bid, reserve, Buy It Now price, end date, anti-snipe settings, featured state, and status) which can be set back to "active" with a new end date, so a reopen/relist is achievable.
3. Are important auction actions logged anywhere? Things like bids being placed, listings being edited or deleted, auctions ending, feedback being left, or an admin/mod stepping in.
No audit log. Nothing goes to XenForo's moderator log, and there's no addon action log

4. Can auction visibility be controlled separately from bidding/listing permissions? For example, could guests be allowed to view auctions but not bid, or could auctions be hidden from guests completely?
Guests browse, members bid is the out-of-the-box behavior. The other direction — hiding auctions from guests entirely — has no support: you can remove the nav tab, but the pages stay reachable by URL. A view permission would be a small addition.

Thanks again for taking the time to answer all of that. Your replies were very helpful and gave me a much clearer picture of how everything works.

The items you mentioned aren’t deal-breakers for us. They’re just useful to know ahead of time, and we can make whatever small adjustments or additions we need later to better fit our community.

At this point, we’re planning on using your Auctions add-on when we reach that stage of the build. It will still be a little while before we’re ready to add it, since we’re working through several other parts of the site first, but I like to plan ahead and understand what we’ll be working with.

I really appreciate your help and the straightforward answers.
