A new product by MojoRisin is available: Global Stickies v1.0.7 - Stickies everywhere
Grant the `Global sticky → Promote thread to global sticky` permission to any user group that should be able to promote and demote threads. Defined under "general moderator permissions".
The `Manage global stickies` admin permission controls access to the ACP page where promotions are listed and edited.
### Promoting a thread
There are two ways to promote a thread:
1. **From the thread itself** — click the `•••` (more options) menu on the thread, then "Promote to global sticky". The promotion form asks for:
- **Start date** — leave blank for "active immediately" or set a future date to schedule.
- **End date** — leave blank for "no expiry" or set a date for auto-removal.
- **Excluded forums** — check any forums where you do NOT want the thread to appear.
2. **From the thread edit page** — check the "Global sticky" checkbox under the Sticky option. This promotes with default options (no schedule, no exclusions). Use the menu link if you need scheduling or exclusions.
### Removing a thread
- Same `•••` menu → "Remove global sticky"
- Or: ACP → Content → Global stickies → click the trash icon on the row
- Or: uncheck the "Global sticky" box on the thread edit page
### Reordering
ACP → Content → Global stickies. Use the up/down arrows on each row to move it relative to the others. Threads at the top of the list appear first in every forum's thread list.
### Editing an existing promotion
ACP → Content → Global stickies → click any thread title to edit its display order, schedule, and forum exclusions.
## Cron
A cron job runs every 10 minutes to auto-demote any global sticky whose end date has passed.
