I see your approach here is to put attachments and other more editor heavy features isolated in the [Advanced] area.
I think it works quite well and it keeps things clean for people not using attachments.

A customer that could REALLY benefit from Xeddit is:

They went from a REALLY heavily threaded forum, to essentially stock xenforo (no threading).

As things mature, consider reaching out to them.
or even, get them on board during the design phase.

So I went to the thread.
Posted an image from windows clipboard into the editor ...
typed: Roses are a great option

and this was the result

Note the left over attachment and Roses are in the text area at the bottom.

I'm the opposite ?
I think image only replies could be a winner.

If there is anything that instagram and reddit teach us is that images are popular.

I do totally understand you wants things clean.

And I think xeddit customers will likely be all over the map on this issue, which will probably force you into making options to accommodate.

I guess the range is:

1) full sized image displayed
2) reduced size image displayed (not a default xenforo option)
3) thumbnail displayed with hover to full image option (don't think xenforo does this)
4) thumbnail displayed
5) link displayed with hover
6) link displayed
7) no images (your original take)

So, i'd be a 1), maaaaaybe 2)

I much prefer Reddit.
The titles are much better sized.
